101st President installed at the AMC/NOMA Annual Meeting
Ronald A. Savrin, MD was welcomed as the 101st president by colleagues, family and guests gathered at the 2001 Academy of Medicine of Cleveland/Northern Ohio Medical Association Annual Meeting. The evening of April 27th at the Ritz-Carlton Cleveland also served to honor several prominent physicians and legislators for their work in the community, primarily in providing quality of care for all the citizens in the greater Cleveland area.

In his inaugural address, Dr. Savrin urged cooperation. “We must work WITH hospitals and health care systems to provide the best medical care system in the world. We must work WITH our state and federal governments to enact, when necessary, legislation that improves our collective ability to provide medical care rather than hinder it. We must work WITH health insurance corporations to develop policies and procedures that will benefit our patients rather than frustrate them. We must ALL work together on behalf of the patient.”

Born and raised in New York, Dr. Savrin attended medical school at State University of New York, Upstate Medical Center and following graduation in 1974, arrived at Ohio State University Hospitals for his internship and residency. Dr. Savrin spent several years practicing in West Virginia and Pennsylvania before joining the staff at Saint Luke’s Medical Center with privileges at Mount Sinai, Saint Vincent’s, and Marymount. He is currently on staff at Hillcrest Hospital and Lake Hospital System.
