AMA announces new General Counsel

    Jon Ekdahl has joined the American Medical Association as its new General Counsel.  Mr. Ekdahl was Managing Partner and General Counsel at Anderson Worldwide where he spent twenty-five years with the firm advising senior management and its board of directors on legal issues, including professional malpractice, corporate law, intellectual property issues, labor and employment claims, regulatory compliance and real estate issues. 

    Ekdahl served as the first General Counsel hired by the international accounting firm Arthur Andersen, later becoming Andersen Worldwide.  He was also responsible for developing and managing a large legal department of attorneys, paralegals and administrative staff for the firm.  Before joining Andersen Worldwide Ekdahl was a partner at the Chicago-based law firm now known as Sidley Austin Brown & Wood.  Mr. Ekdahl acquired a Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor degrees from Harvard University, and a Master’s degree from the London School of Economics.
