AMC/NOMA is currently mailing to their members a
"Medicare In Crisis" information brochure. The Centers for Medicare &
Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced a cut of 4.4% in reimbursements for physicians
participating in the Medicare program for 2003. This is the second in a series of
cuts that will drop reimbursements by nearly 18% by 2005. AMC/NOMA urges physicians
and patients to write your Congressmen and impress the need for passage of House Joint
Resolution 3. The informational brochure may be copied and distributed to patients.
Patients may call the American Medical Association's toll-free grassroots hotline at
1-800-833-6354 to access their Congressmen. A copy of the brochure and our cover
letter to physician members is available on our Web site at www.amcnoma.org.
