AMC/NOMA physician advocacy committee working on various issues

The AMC/NOMA has a physician advocacy committee working on behalf of our members on issues related to the media, hospital credentialing, medical liability issues and other matters of critical importance to physicians.  With the passage of SB 281, the committee began working on a model arbitration form with explanatory points for AMC/NOMA members.  The board will review this form in April and after approval the form will be sent out to our members.

The physician advocacy committee has also sent out letters to all hospital Presidents and CEOs regarding medical liability limits.  The AMC/NOMA has been contacted by the Center for Health Affairs (the area hospital association) to work with them on the issue of medical liability to assist hospitals and physicians in the region.  The AMC/NOMA will provide information on this initiative in the coming months.

The committee also prepared and submitted a letter to the editor regarding physician administrative fees.  The Plain Dealer published this letter and the content of the letter was included in our last issue of the Cleveland Physician.  A complete copy of our letter regarding administrative fees is also on our web site at www.amcnoma.org.  Any member of the AMC/NOMA may submit issues to the physician advocacy committee for review.  Please contact E. R. Biddlestone at the AMC/NOMA offices with questions at 216 520-1000.
