Free Online Journal on Prevention Research on Chronic Disease

A new free, peer-reviewed, online journal to make the latest prevention research on chronic disease is now accessible to doctors, public health professionals and others has been launched by the Center for Disease Control (CDC). The journal is Preventing Chronic Disease: Public Health Research, Practice and Policy, The first issue of the journal includes a video on tobacco control programs and studies indicating that many diabetics don’t receive flu or pneumonia vaccinations and that people with osteoporosis have a lower quality of life. Chronic disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, and treatment accounts for 75% of the nation’s $1.3 trillion in annual health care spending.
